We left Friday morning and drove to Carlsbad, New Mexico for the weekend. The Dore family traveled down from Washington to Arizona for their spring break and graciously met us half way in New Mexico. We brought Duke along with us for his first road trip and he did remarkably well. It was wonderful to see them and hang out for the weekend together!!
Saturday we went to the caverns and explored the Big Room portion of the caverns. The Carlsbad Caverns are immense. You could spend the entire day there and not see everything.
We took the elevator down and took our time walking the floor of the Big Room over 750 feet under ground. We spent two and half hours exploring the cavern and snapping picture after picture. We saw some of the famous features such as the Bottomless Pit, Giant Dome, Rock of Ages and the Painted Grotto. My personal favorite was the
Dolls Theatre pictured below.

We drove the scenic 9 1/2 mile gravel road
through the Walnut Canyon Desert after our cavern visit.
Here Sam and Sydney posed for a quick picture.
Another stop along the desert trail.
Swimming is apart of every vacation!
